At least it wasn't expensive.I'd hate to think I had paid dearly for the headache it's given me, and I do hope the stink dissipates soon because a hotel room for the night WOULD be expensive.

(More customer reviews)My cats have a carpet covered tower that they love.I was ready to get rid of the tower because their fur was embedded in the carpet.The tower was starting to look old and dingy and I tried everything I could find to clean it.Vacuuming and rolling with sticky tape rolls barely made a difference.I tried the FURemover last night and it took all the fur off the tower.I couldn't believe it but it looked brand new!It even took off the little pieces of carpet that the cats scratched out.

They didn't say it on the packaging anywhere, but it takes a little while for the static charge to build up and I found that it was easier to use circular motions to get the fur that was really embedded in the carpeting.It does create a mess of "fur bunnies" but it's easy to just vacuum them up afterwards.

I didn't find it particularly effective for grooming the cats.The Shed Ender is the best thing we've found for that.

Heres the thing, you have to exert alot of manual labor, it is what it says.... Rake. You are literally rakingyour carpet and it takes some energy out of you!! I have done it, and i do it all the time. I LOVE this product, not love like my favorite purse, but love like... Like, a good tool that's a necessity around the house.

I live in a apartment with crappy apartment carpet. In all the walkways and where the dog sleeps i sprinkle Arm & Hammer baking soda rake it into the carpets, then 30 min or so later (usually the next day) I vacuum it up. My carpets stay lighter and fluffier until they need it again. I does and excellent job at pulling out years worth of dirt that had never been gotten by my vacuum alone.

I give it 5 stars and a must have tool around the house!!

(More customer reviews)Let me start off by saying that I'm a cleaner. I have two hairy dogs, a four year old and allergies to dust, so I'm constantly cleaning. My Dyson vacuum quite literally stays plugged in all the time. I like a deep down clean. I had seen the Roomba for years and thought it wasn't for me.

Well, while researching the Scooba (also a fabulous machine) I decided to go ahead and get a Roomba if only for my kitchen floor. My dogs stay primarily in the kitchen and there's always a ton of hair in there. I have to vacuum every day. I thought I'd just give the Roomba a try. I figured it would clog up with hair in 5 minutes and die, but it didn't. I have a 200 square foot kitchen and the thing cleaned and cleaned until I finally it needed the filter cleaned out (about 45 minutes later) I can't blame it, there was two days worth of dog hair on the floor. If it can handle that, it can handle anything.

Next, I set it loose (on the same charge, no less) on the upstairs carpet which is approximately 800 square feet. It cleaned the living room, bathrooms, hall, bedroom and even under the bed! I was quite impressed. It never got stuck. I followed it around to make sure it didn't have any problems and it never did. It went over area rugs, thresholds, & bathmats.

I think some people get confused and think that the Roomba is a like a vacuum and then they get disappointed. It's a more of a sweeper. It will get surface dust, hair, crumbs and debris. If you want a deep down vacuum you'll have to pull out your old upright. But if you want a daily sweep up this is the gadget for you.

With that being said, I have to give Roomba props for it's level of cleaning. I have 5 year old carpet, it's the low grade stuff the builders install, and Roomba still does a nice job combing the carpet. I can see where Roomba has been because it leaves those nice little brush marks we compulsive cleaners love. Although I'm sure that will vary depending on your carpet.

I can't vouch for Roomba's longevity since I've only had it one day. It does seem to move more freely on hard floors than carpet. I don't know if carpeting puts more strain on the motor or not. That could be a factor in longevity. But for now I'd have to say that this little gadget is a time saver and worth 5 stars. It does what it is designed to do and it does it rather well.

The only thing I would recommend is that you get the one that returns to the base charger when it's battery is low. That is a nice convenience. That way you'll always have your Roomba ready to use.Definately worth the money. A true time and labor saver. Now, maybe I'll have time to work on my messy garage.

I didn't research enough before buying an air purifier, but now realize that HEPA is the only way to go if you actually want to purify your air, not just move it around.

UPDATE

As a replacement purifier I purchased the Honeywell 17000 HEPA QuietCare Air Cleaner (see my review of this product).It works much better and actually removes particles etc from the air really well.

I tried selling my IFD fiter on E-Bay but no one would buy it - not even for 3 dollars!What a POS!

(More customer reviews)I bought this vacuum to replace a household Hoover Windtunnel Bagless.I have to haul my vacuum up and down short flights of stairs constantly, and the Hoover was so heavy, and the maintenance was too much.I can get alot more out of the (expensive) prefilter by blowing it out with an air compressor after every use, but who has time for that?This vacuum is really well designed for carrying.The fold down handle makes this vacuum easy to carry, as does the light weight.I was never happy with an Oreck - although light, it has no onboard attachments, unless you want to spring for a much more expensive model.So far, I have not broken any of the catches that hold the handle in position, but I can see where that could be a problem.
Onboard attachments - comes with a crevice tool and a dusting brush.The brush refuses to stay on the vacuum, so I carry it in my cleaning box so as not to get lost.Suction seems great with the hose, but this vacuum is definitely not as good as the Hoover.That is an amazing vacuum, but this one's size and minimal maintenance required (as with most bagged vacuums) has made it worth it.I will occasionally use the Hoover, just to be thorough, but this one works pretty well, and fits my requirements.Couldn't beat the price either - $130 from a merchant here on Amazon.

The iRobot people wanted too much money for their replacement to fit my old Roomba; this battery met my needs. Like I said, if you enjoy tearing your old Roomba down to tune it up etc, you'll prolly be fine twisting 3 wires together and soldering them. The company who shipped my battery forgot to ship along the funky triangle tip shaped screwdriver. They did mail one out a week or so later, which was nice of them! I got excited though, and couldn't wait for the special screwdriver, so I simply drilled out the old screws that hold the battery case together and just used black electrical tape to hold it together and that worked great! The new battery is holding up well and charges up fast!I'm happy I ordered this replacement.

After checking around the local hardware stores in vain, I started searching the web. Wouldn't you know..my favorite internet shopping destination had just what I was looking for.I've only had it about a week so can't comment on longevity, allow it seems very sturdily constructed.I expect with proper care it will last a long time.

I thought my weeding days were over and the chore would fall completely to my husband as I have advanced degenerative disc disease and arthritis of the spine.The Hula-Ho gave me back some gardening dignity (big smile).The handle is tall enough that there is no hunching over.The blade, although it doesn't appear to be very sharp, goes right through young weeds and either cuts them off or lifts them out of the ground, roots and all, depending on size.The easy back and forth motion that you use with this tool to do the job doesn't put too much strain on my spine.One note here...if you have really well established, thick, deep rooted weeds, you might have to pull them out by hand the first time around or put some elbow grease into the job.A job for someone with a good back.From then on it's just a matter of a little back and forth (like vacumming)action to keep weeds easily under control.Obviously we're talking about using this in garden soil..not an area that's never been worked before.I'm very happy with this purchase and would recommend it highly to anyone who gardens regularly.

(More customer reviews)Very smart tool for cleaning just about anything.I cleaned my oven burners, floor tile, and have so much confidence in it that I will be cleaning my pool tile with it this weekend.
Floor Tile: I used the narrow brush tool to clean the .5" grout lines that I have in my kitchen and It looks like it removed a thin layer to make the them appear brand new.I went fairly slow and agitated with the brush while applying direct steam. I noticed a thin dust layer on the edges of the tile after I performed this which may be a the top layer of grout or the packed in dust - The grout looks fantastic, but I may need to limit how often I use this technique considering I may be taking off layers or the seal - but I'm very impressed with how effective this technique can be.
Cleaning the tile is a joy as well - This unit comes with two cloths that hook on to the floor tool that basically act as a catcher for dirt and dust.I would still recommend sweeping floors with heavy dust or debris first as you would if you were going to use a mop - the cloth picks up objects that stick to it - but anything too big will be pushed around.These cloths are very durable and I have washed one several times and it seems as good as new.
I have not used the tool as a steamer for clothing yet, but I am pretty confident it will work to get all the wrinkles out.
The times between refills seem to be a little over a half an hour.The process of re-filling the tank can be a little tedious considering you have to wait for the unit to cool down before opening the tank - I would compare the annoyance factor to waiting for a slice of pizza to cool down before chowing it - not a big deal.
The 370 is fun to use, has tools to do about anything, and will kick the crud out of any stubborn stains or dirt that have been plaguing you.If this thing doesn't beat it it probably needed to be replaced and not cleaned in the first place.
I give it 4 out of 5 stars - I would have given it 5 if it had come with a remote control and I could clean things from my couch.

The Catch-All was the clear winner and my opinion was seconded by my girlfriend in her own unbiased test.The Catch-All's soft rotating brush allowed it to pick up small particles (crumbs and such) while the Sweeper Vac failed to suck them up and resulted in the swiffer pad pushing them around.The seperate battery pack makes the CatchAll much easier to recharge and store and it makes less noise than the SweeperVac.The CatchAll is great for quick daily passes of the high traffic tile in my house and it still amazes me how much pet hair it grabs up in my everyday use.I've tried tons of floor care products and this one has won me over.I returned the Dirt Devil the next day and bought the Bissell Steam Mop which I also found to be a fantastic addition to the CatchAll.

(More customer reviews)I read the essentially unanimous glowing reviews of the the Miele Antares and happily ordered it online, thinking I'd saved myself some time and how could I go wrong since it was even free shipping. This is a $500 vacuum, but the on-line consensus was that it is well worth it. I took the machine out of the box and my first impression was how cheap and utilitarian the accessories were. I was pretty surprised given the reviews and the price. I started it up and was dismayed at how ineffective it was picking up pet hair off our medium pile rug. Our $150 Hoover does better and I was replacing it because I decided I didn't like bagless feature. The beater brush on the Miele is air driven and is easily slowed down by the rug. That's a pretty serious design flaw, especially on an expensive machine. So not only is the beater brush ineffective, all that air resistance steals the suction from what is a rather small (but yes, quiet!) motor.

It took me all of 5 minutes to decide I did not want this vacuum, so I boxed it right back up, then began discovering why you should probably never buy a vacuum over the internet (unless you KNOW you will like it). First you have to jockey with the supplier for an RMA number. It didn't come automatically with an Email request, they wanted to interview me for the reason. Then comes the big ouch. You now incur 3 charges: you pay return shipping ($50), you forfeit free shipping to you ($50), and you pay a "20% restocking fee" ($100). So when all is said and done, assuming the return is actually accepted, I'm out $200 for the opportunity to test drive a Miele Antares. Your opinion may differ from mine and you may love this machine, but DON'T buy it based on on-line reviews or you are taking a BIG risk on your wallet.

It was too big, lint and hair would not catch and pull out of the brushes.The razor might have bee useful for cutting the ropes of hair Roomba winds up around his brushes, except the worst ropes always wind up around the ends of the brushes where the razor can't reach.Do yourself a favor, skip this and buy a pair of nail scissors instead. They do a great job. That's what I use to clean my Roomba.

(More customer reviews)This is just a large size sticky roller, like the one you use to get lint off of clothes.It is very useful in some places, and gets more things off the tile floor than you ever thought were there,even after the floor has been swabed. I do not know how it wouold do on a carpet, perhaps not as good as a vacuum. My dog gets on my bed during the days, and it takes the hair off the sheets in seconds.
On a tile floor one must "pre swipe" it over a rug or bed, because the adhesive is so good that it sticks to the floor and has to be scraped off (Ungh!) The roller is held by a press apart plastic U shape holder which is very fragile and easily broken. The refills are a bit expensive for throwaways, but I think it is workth it.

(More customer reviews)I definitely noticed the difference each time I added this treatment, so much so that I'm adding this review here even though I bought this stuff at Bed, Bath & Beyond.

Earlier this year I acquired a mid-century modern Rya rug, a natural wool shag that has spent most of its life in storage and thus had taken on a distinct musty smell. This is the only carpet on otherwise hardwood floors so it's clear where the odor was coming from. When I had a pregnant friend over and she politely but firmly insisted I keep the window open on a cool day I knew I had to do something about the slightly vomity stale smell, which I would notice upon entering the place and then forget about and less sensitive noses would not apparently pick up on (or were attached to mouths too polite to say). I started with the crystals and opening the window each day, which didn't do much.

The first shake treatment not only reduced the mustiness 40%, the rug felt much nicer and fuller after treatment. The container was enough for three or four treatments (it's a big area rug - 8 x 12) and before this last treatment I had it down to about 10% of the previous odor - I believe I have just delivered the knockout punch.

Bonus - my kids are super picky about scents (they hate them) and did not complain even while I was doing the treatment. It's a nice fresh scent, natural.

So here is a rug that a reputable chem dry outfit had said they couldn't help restore (they gave it a cursory cleaning and left without charging me) that is now nearly as good as new, and certainly as good as it gets for a rug from the 1960's.

(More customer reviews)This is a very good vacuum if you're only doing carpet and not hard surfaces.i really mean it when i say it's a very good vaccuum.the person reviewing before complaining about the 3 empties of dust cup is evidence of that.it's picking up WAY more then other vacuums.i even tried a dyson out in the store and that was laughable compared to this one.the dyson left trails of dirt on the home depot floor.they also said there's no upholstry attachment??? HELLO!!!!!!! the POWER PAW!!!!! DUH!it's amazing, it rotates just like the regular vacuum so it really gets the cat hair and does a great job on the stairs.

it has a great ergo handle the lifts and lowers for comfort.
no filter in dust cup which is a huge plus
GREAT PRICE!worth WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY more.there are a few quirks in design.

hepa air outlet placement, in the front so if you're doing hardwoods and stand it up, things blow around.

the hose is weirdly attached so you really have to push it through the hole to get it to extend and it always goes back in while you're vacuuming.

the attachments fall off so i just store them elsewhere

the cord should be retractable that would be STELLAR!

i am very happy with this vacuum it does a bang up job and i'll just have to stick to swiffers for my hardwoods.

I can't see mold or bacteria or dust mites, but the dust I can see gets trapped by this very efficient filter. After five months I changed the filter and marveled at how dirty the back was. (More customer reviews)This model is sort of smart so kudos to the guys at MIT. However, there are consequences to contracting out the manufacturing process to a cut rate Chinese firm. I'm waiting for my third replacement unit as I write this. The brush motor burned out in my original 4220 in about 9 months and the 4221 replacement only lasted 2.5 months. I'm now out of warranty and figure I have three months of life left in this $300 purchase.

Really, selling a plastic toy with no possibility of repair is just criminal. Shame on IRobot...shame.

I was also surprised that the steam coming out was not all that hot, and wasn't really loosening up stuff in my shower & in the toilet bowl, not did it even "refresh" a shirt, nor do a very good job at taking out wrinkles. It was difficult using it & not get everything all wet, even with the bonnet on; not good on "dry clean only" garments. Needless to say, very disappointing...

(More customer reviews)My family and I moved from Southern California (where we slept with the windows open nearly year round for wonderful, well rested sleep) to Phoenix, Arizona (where the humidity hovers at most to 15% in my house according to my hygrometer.) After a month (and before we got the humidifier), my kids (3 and 1) were absolutely suffering. During the night, they were choking and hacking, wheezing and just plugged up. I was no different. Needless to say, our sleep was badly affected. I knew it was the air situation. After 3 nights of researching the different types of humidifiers, I finally settled on buying two Air O Swiss 7144 units (one for each kid's room). Although it was expensive, I buy things for the long haul and figured better to spend up front then have problems with cheaper models down the road. I have since turned it on absolutely every single night for them and the difference is short of miraculous. Here are some points: 1- a full tank lasts two nights running at 8 hours a night with the windows closed and the door nearly shut (about an inch ajar at most)

2- tank is not difficult to fill. I use one 3 gallon water bottle
(normally used for my drinking water dispense) to completely fill up both humidifier units

3- to maximize space and thus get the most water into the humidifier, I removed the demineralization cartridge and use only reverse osmosis drinking water for my unit. I have had ZERO WHITE DUST. The R.O. water is purified enough that there are no remaining minerals to be churned out as white dust. This trick also saves me from having to replace the cartridge. (BTW, our tap water is VERY hard so I didn't want to use it even with the demineralization cartridge because why make the machine work harder than it has to?) R.O. water is perfect and again, NO WHITE DUST AT ALL!!!!

4- It's so quiet, it's ridiculous. I LOVE that.

5- The warm mist feature is perfect. It does not raise the temperature of the room so it's never like a sauna. The air leaving the machine even at warm mist feels somewhat cool (and the first night I kept checking in on the kids to make sure I wasn't freezing them) but the unit actually heats the water to 104 degrees which isjust the right temp at maintaining room temp (no moist saunas!!) and/or preventing steam burn to your finger in case a curious little one chooses to wave his/her hand in the mist.

6- I've religiously used the units each night for the last 3 months with absolutely no problem.

7- The buttons don't light up or create distracting glows. Important for me because I wanted the kids' rooms to remain relatively dark as that's what they're used to.

8- There is no leaking or condensation on the unit. The mist is so fine that it evaporates before it touches the little folding dinner tray table that I have each unit placed on. The carpet underneath doesn't feel soggy or anything. It truly produces an ultrafine mist that dissipates almost immediately.

9- I can adjust the flow and humidity to my liking (to get 2 nights' worth of output from one tank, I set it on warm mist at the lowest air flow at 55% humidity)

10- It automatically shuts off when it runs out of water. There is a blinking light that indicates that the machine is on "On" but there's no water. I usually press the off button the after the second night's use. If I forget to press off and fill the tank up on the third night, I noticed that since the machine is technically "on" (even though there's no sound or movement indicating that), as soon as I put the filled tank back on the unit, it immediately starts working on the settings I last set it on.

11- I have yet to use the cool mist (since it's still winter) but I read that it actually helps to maintain (at the very least) or slightly lower the room temp which is convenient in summer months.

All in all, I love this machine. By the way, on a few occasions when my older child needed me to sleep next to him until he fell back asleep (usually a nightmare woke him up), I noticed within 10-15 minutes that my breathing was VERY different in his room where the unit had been running for several hours into the night. No clogged sinuses or difficult inhalation. Once he was appropriately tucked in and I would go back to my room, within 5-10 minutes, my breathing would get adversely affected. That's how dry the air is in our house. So, that's why after 3 months of enjoying how well it's worked in the kids' rooms, my husband and I are looking forward to our own good sleep after just purchasing our 3rd machine.

(More customer reviews)I ordered this replacement hose for my Dyson after calling the company directly and finding out they can't sell to customers in New York State due to tax complications.Dyson referred me to a business called Factory Direct which could sell it to me, but the price was $20 more than Dyson's $39.xx.So I purchased this item on Amazon expecting it to be--as described--a 'Dyson' DC07 hose.

When it arrived I realized that this is a generic replacement part, not made by Dyson.Though I returned it because I wanted the genuine article I have to say the quality is very good--not quite the level of the Dyson manufactured part, but certainly an adaquate and functional replacement.

The color didn't match though.The yellow parts are simply bright yellow and not the Steel-Yellow of the vacuum.I would have preferred if they made that bit simply gray instead because the color difference made it look cheesy.

BOTTOM LINE: Though this part is not of equivilant quality to the same by Dyson, it will work just fine.The yellow plastic section is not made of as rigid a plastic as the Dyson, and the color doesn't match, but if you don't care about these things then this is a good replacement of more than adaquate quality for most applications.I don't know if it would stretch the length of a stairway repleatedly as well or as durably as the Dyson hose, but otherwise it will probably hold up just fine.

(More customer reviews)I bought a Hoover Self-Propelled WindTunnel Bagless with Powered Hand Tool (Model U6637-960) in July 2007.I was reasonably happy with it until the motor burned out last week - just 4 months past the warranty date.I have a two-bedroom apartment; this Hoover received very moderate use.Of course I checked for problems with the roller, belts, and visible clogs.The dirt cup had been recently emptied.The next step would have been to take it to a dealer for repair.

I'm finished with Hoovers.I now have a Bissell Momentum Bagless (Model 82G7-1) that I quite like, so far.It is much lighter weight than the Hoover, and easier to maneuver.One of the features I liked about the Hoover was the powered hand tool attachment.The Bissell has the same type of attachment (TurboBrush).Suction through both the base the attachment hose is very good - better than the Hoover.The dirt cup is separate from the filter (unlike the Hoover) and easier to remove and empty.On the down side, the Bissell's dirt cup is smaller and has to be emptied frequently.I paid [...] for the Hoover (Costco, with coupon).I paid [...]for the Bissell (Kohl's, on sale with coupon).

Installing this belt on a windtunnel upright vacuum is akin to forcing a 500-pound woman into a size two girdle. It can be done but it's going to take of effort and there's going to be some pain involved.

Plus, there's the richocet effect. Heaven forbid if the new belt pops free while you're desperately trying to complete the installation, the force with which the rubber belt recoils could shatter glass, puncture plaster walls and/or shoot out someone's eye.

I rated the belt at five stars, but I wish I could vote on the design (which is poor). It takes a few tools, lots of forearm muscles and the patience of Job to get this belt into place.

Our vacuum went through a belt about once every two years. If you're not thoughtful and careful with the machine, you'll burn through many more belts than that. The belt is the sacrificial lamb in the whole affair and the belt will burn up before the motor.

(More customer reviews)If you have a problem with leaves in your pool, you absolutely must get this product!We installed our pool late this summer, and I could not bring myself to take down a stately oak that is far enough away so that it never shades the pool, but autumn rolls around boy can it drop some leaves.Plus the neighbors have pine trees and sweetgums that contribute their leaves when the wind is right.I was frustrated trying to use the regular vacuum because the hose and skimmer basket were clogging every few minutes.With the leaf eater you attach your aluminum pole and a garden hose, turn on the hose, and the leaves are "vacuumed" into a mesh bag.Dump the bag and you're done.It is so much easier and quicker than using your vacuum system, and it doesn't strain the pump, hose, or skimmer basket.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this for my crawl space a few weeks ago. We've had dampness issues and with all the Atlanta area flooding/rain, I figured it would be an asset. I'm sure it is doing some good with air movement but it's so darn loud despite having exchanged it once already and making sure to install it to manufacturer's specs. From the reviews I had read, I expected to not hear this at all. However, in my essentially ranch style home with a 3-4 foot tall crawl space, it's as loud or louder than my A/C. Even my wife who normally thinks I blow things out of proportion and am too sensative thought it was just too noisy, especially at night.

I'll probably move it to the a far corner of my home and set it for "biblical floods" only, the humidistat at 80 percent or higher. I'd give it one start but I'm sure it is moving air under the house, so it's probably doing 2 stars worth of good-but at a price.

(More customer reviews)What's not to like about a $700 vacuum cleaner other than the price?Being a guy and not knowing a lot about vacuums I figured a good one is going to cost a few bucks. I have lived in Germany for many years and know that the Germans don't build crap; and the Miele is no exception even if it is assembled in China of German parts. Their way of keeping the costs reasonable I guess. After doing my research on the internet and visiting a local Miele distributor I decided on the S514 as a good middle of the road compromise. Having expensive oriental carpets I needed something with a little more suction power and a powered beater bar. First thing I did when I got it assembled was to crank it all the way to max and proceed to vacuum the carpets. This thing actually lifted the carpets off the floor so I had to turn down the power a bit and that's when I noticed there was a setting for the beater bar. Typical guy, when all else fails read the instructions. The beater bar isn't too rough on my carpets and does a good job of raising the nap without damaging the fibers. The only reason I don't give it a 5 star rating is because of the lack of a proper flat floor brush. The power beater bar, even when powered off, doesn't do well on flat, bare floors. I just figure that for the price I paid they could have provided a better floor brush. What would it cost them, a couple of bucks extra? But because I had to pay an additional $60 for a flat brush the Miele S514 doesn't get a top rating.

I was a bit hesitant about how well it would compare since the steam fast product is signicantly less expensive than the comparable Jiffy Steamer product. The Good Housekeeping endorsement of this product sealed the deal.I have been thrilled by how well it works. My clothes look great after steaming them! It is great for replacing ironing clothes, and you can use it to remove wrinkles on things that I would *never* try ironing - like wool sweaters, suit jackets, draperies/sheers, knit tops. The other big advantage for me personally is that all I have to do is to plug it in to use it - no more dragging out the ironing board.The mfr does recommend the use of distilled or deionized water to prolong the life/minimize descaling maintenance. A gallon of water will probably fill the tank twice - which translates into about 8 hours of use. Do shop around. Cost varies significantly from place to place.UPDATE: Dec 9 2006. However, I bought it in March and it is now June and it seems a bit worn out. It was quiet and now it is loud. It sounds like it is breaking down....it doesnt hold a charge as long anymore but it still works. My baby is crawling now and it keeps all the little choking hazards up. (More customer reviews)I have a 12x12 pond that is 2 ft deep and has not been emptied for 4 years. I bought this vac to clean the lightweight muck that had accumulated at the bottom. Unless you can discharge the water a few feet away it is necessary to extend the hose to a safe discharge area. The bag would not be practicable for this type of debris.
The pump picks up an adequate amount of water and muck as you move it along the bottom. The problem is that if you have any small stones, 3/4 in or less, it will jamb the blades and stop the pump. It also will jamb with items such as snail shells. The solution for me was to turn the pump head so the pickup lay sideways or upward during the vac operation. This worked fine and avoided the jamming problem.It also picked up pieces of dead plants and this accumulated on the head. I plan to use it daily until I have removed the "muck" and then use it weekly to maintain the pond. It you have a newer pond with no small debris or stones, this is a very good solution to maintain the pond. Its well built and easy to handle.

So guess what we just purchased from Sam's Club yesterday - a DC27 Total Clean.

Yesterday, before purchasing the DYSON, I vacuumed the entire house.This morning, after putting the DC27 together, I vacuumed again.I COULD NOT BELIEVE WHAT WAS IN THE CANISTER.It made me feel like I never cleaned my house!Now I understand all the rave over Dyson.It is my first week and first cleaning, but it is fabulous!In addition, I forgot to mention was that the small Dyson 6 handheld came with it for quick cleaning, for my car, etc, and all of this for $479.00 at Sam's Club.

Bottom line - The Tenergy batteries seem to have short lifespans.If they typically lasted a year, I suspect the warranty would have been made to match.

(More customer reviews)Between the lowering of the charge time to 3 hours from 7 hours AND the fact I can leave it in a room and have a 90% certainty of it being on the base charging when I get back to it, this has made my roomba red incredibly more useful.I can drop it off to work in my bedroom when I get up.in the middle of the morning put it in the baby's room.Then grab it when I put her down for her nap and let it do the living room and have it recharged in time to have it do the basement or another room before dinner.

With the quicker charge time and the automation of charging it has stopped me from considering spending the money on a second roomba since I get so much more out of my one.

If your roomba did not come with the fast charger and the docking base, this will make your roomba so much more useful.Oh and no more finding the little guy stuck in the middle of under a bed.

(More customer reviews)I was fed up with constantly filling portable humidifiers and cleaning up all the mineral deposits so I bought this.Install was straighforward but time consuming.Bottom line: this will easily humidify a large house and the only maintenance is changing the filter each year.The filter traps all the minerals or they wash down the drain and there is virtually no cleanup.So much nicer than scrubbing caked on deposits with vinegar in my portable unit.Be prepared for a bigger water bill.When running it wastes a lot of water, but I figured I offset the higher water bill with a smaller heating bill because you feel warmer with more humidity and we were able to reduce the inside temp 2 degrees.

(More customer reviews)We have a Miele S 5281 Callisto with the 228 powerhead on it.The powerhead on this unit is 13 inches wide, which is a real pain to use on stairs that are carpeted.The 228 powerhead is height adjustable, which is great for different types of carpets, it is just too wide to be easy to use on stairs with a 10 inch tread.Thus, we thought we would order the SEB-217-3 as it is 10 inches wide (perfect for matching the stair tread) and we expected it to be of the same construction, just narrower.

When the unit arrived, we found that not only is the unit NOT adjustable, the brush that revolves to clean the carpet is nowhere near well made or as dense.This unit is more trouble than it is worth to try and use since the only way you can make any height adjustments is to change your angle that you are holding the wand at!Try that on stairs with two landings!!

We returned the unit and just decided to use the 228 powerhead for general cleaning and to use the car cleaning attachment (a seperate hose and vacuum powered head that is sold to clean cars with that we had purchased with a 6 inch wide head)when we needed to get in the areas that the larger power head misses.

Considering the cost of this attachment, I would have expected MUCH more from it.I would not recommend purchasing this if you have a 228 or better powerhead as it would be very disappointing by comparison.

(More customer reviews)I own two Roomba 560's and purchased these filters about a month ago.They pick up much less dust then the stock filters do.I use an air compressor to blow the dust from my filters every 2-3 days, and the difference between the stock and HEPA filters is remarkable.I get a sizeable "dust cloud" when I blow out the stock filters and a barely noticeable dust cloud when I blow out the HEPA filter.

I also agree with "Katherine of Amazon" that there's way to much "viral marketing" for this product.

(More customer reviews)I purchased my Dolphin Diagnostic four years ago at our local Leslie's. I had a Kreepy Krauly which worked fairly well but, since my pool has only one skimmer inlet, the surface wouldn't get adequately skimmed when the KK was being used (even with the KK skimmer plate which allowed for some skimming while vacuuming). While we don't have many trees in West Texas, any that are shed seem to end up in my pool ;-)

I have been completely satisfied with the Dolphin. In the four years I have owned it I have needed only two repairs -- the first about 2 years ago was done under warranty and required sending the Dolphin to a repair station. This winter my Dolphin stopped moving and I tracked (pun intended) the problem to a worn drive track. I was able to fix this myself after ordering the correct parts.

While not having many trees, West Texas does have a lot of dust and wind. Prior to the Dolphin it was a battle to keep the pool clean but now it remains sparkling. I don't know why the previous two reviewers have had such problems, but mine covers the entire pool without difficulty. You do need to pay attention to the flow in the pool since that can affect the Dolphin's cleaning pattern. I tend to run it at least every other day throughout the year since we don't close our pool for the winter.

I've noticed two fringe benefits to the Dolphin. First, the agitation from the upward stream from the pump (especially when it is at the top of its climb of a wall) helps move surface debris and the skimmer is more effective. Second, since the collection bag microfilters the water, I only have to backwash my filter about one tenth as often as previously. This saves time, work, water, and chemicals.

Four years ago I paid about $850 for the Dolphin. This is my 5th season of use. Amortized at less than $200 per year this has been a great investment for me. My only regret is not having spent the extra money for the model with remote control. Sometimes there is an area - usually at the shallow end - that I want to clean first.

O.K., you do have to clean the bag but that is not much of a chore. I just dump the debris in the trash and then spray the bag with a hose to remove the dirt. Actually, there are disposable bags available and I did purchase some to use in the winter but they are rather expensive so I prefer the bag cleaning route.

I have recommended the Dolphin to friends and I would buy another.

Here is the "Replacement Filter Table" on the box of the HRF-11. The first number is the Air Purifier series followed by the # of filters required in parenthesis. The last, right number is for the HEPA filter model # it replaces:

As another reviewer has already noted, this is not really a 'permanent' filter because it must be replaced every 3-5 years under normal use, just like the non-permanent filter that originally came with the air cleaner.

I'm giving it 4 stars for two reasons: 1. Because I really do not find a difference in the way this works yet compared to the filter that came with my 17000; and 2. My machine requires two of these so the air actually goes through less HEPA material than the one-piece filter that came with the machine [casing and spacer where HEPA material would be if a one piece filter]. Only time will tell if I have to replace this sooner than I would for a one piece filter (yearly) due to it's usage in a room with a wood stove.

(More customer reviews)Just got my steamer after a year+ hiatus since my Rowenta's plastic head cracked off. WOW, what a difference, for almost the same price! My advice: DO NOT bother with a steamer that has a plastic head. Over time, it will melt, crack, irreparably fall off-->the end for your steamer. There were no replacement parts for my Rowenta, & its ability to remove wrinkles wasunderwhelming, so I just didn't bother replacing it. The Jiffy J2000 is easier to use: The tank pulls out & replaces easily, no levers or locks to undo. The tank opening is big, no funnel needed, holds about a gallon. It heats within a minute to steaming. The metal head gets steaming hot, so you essentially have a combination of a hand-held iron and a steamer (the instructions do stress the importance of contact between the head and the fabric for best results). The handle is big and wooden, so its comfortable & cool. The unit itself is easy to roll on casters, not bulky, so it's easy to use in my very small laundry room. Be aware that if you haven't used a steamer before, the tubing gets very hot & may burn a little one (or you)--teach kids to stay away as soon as you get this out of the box! You will get billowing clouds of steam, & it WORKS, even on jeans! This is a very quiet unit, too, so you can steam while the kids sleep or do homework, Dad watches TV, etc. And if you want to hold your hanging garment by a corner to keep it steady or straighten it while steaming, I would strongly suggest an oven mitt, or just using a metal or wood tong to keep your hand out of the way entirely. That's the voice of experience, having scalded my fingers a few times! DON'T touch the hot steam head & keep it & the hose away from your anatomy. No attachments come with this steamer. The instruction book shows several attachments that can be ordered thru the Jiffy website to make this a steam cleaner (bathroom, floors, etc), hat steamer, etc, as well as a garment steamer. An extended 3 YEAR warranty is also offered on top of the 1 year warranty, for $34.99 on [..]. Can't beat this deal!

(More customer reviews)I absolutely love this contraption.My mom has a lower model (300) without the cleaning solution reservoir, and using hers is what prompted me to buy the S600.It makes cleaning so much easier, and the attachments have helped me get into cracks and crevices that had been neglected in the past.My only complaints about the scumbuster are the the length of charge that the internal battery holds and the "storage"box.First, it'll die on you in the middle of cleaning, so you have to put it on the charger for a few hours to recharge it in order to finish.Second, the storage/carry case is the chintsy plastic box that it came in, and it does not stay closed very well.My mom's came with a nice carry container that you can carry around with you and store it in.I like the scumbuster so much that I bought two of them, one to give as a gift.

I think Black and Decker has some honing to do however, to make this product worthy of a 5 star rating.I have had two problems with the scumbuster since I bought it.The first scumbuster I received in the mail--only one of the two speeds worked.I sent it back for a replacement.The next one they sent me had a reservoir that leaked the cleaning product all over me and the floor, hence, there was none to use on the surface I was cleaning.This could also be a potential problem for products that stain clothes/carpet or are not supposed to come in contact with skin.Anyways, I called Black and Decker themselves, and they were very nice, and immediately sent a replacement reservoir, which I received in 2 or 3 days.No problems since.This is such a good product people, that I still recommend it even though I've seen a couple bumps in the road.You can use the scumbuster anywhere, inside, outside, in the car, anywhere.I've used in on the carpet, and even on the siding on my house(a whole other story).The scumbuster S600 can be used with or without cleaning products, and with lower models all you do is spray the product on the surface like you would in any other cleaning task.IT can be submerged in water too, to rinse off the cleaning pad.If you ask me, this is a way better product than the dustbuster could ever hope to be.Buy one (any model) today!

It leaves pet hair behind, and blows dust bunnies around. I also use the pet odor refresher powder on my area rugs when I vacuum, assuming that this vacuum would work because it is called "pet lover". It simply sucks up the powder and then spits it all out when I reverse the direction of the vacuum. I recommend looking into a different brand or model if you are considering buying this vacuum and want one that works well!

(More customer reviews)I had never heard of Persil laundry detergent before I purchased my new Miele washer and dryer. I did read rave reviews on the internet about this stuff.

I was skeptical that just one capful (2 tablespoons) could clean a full load of dirty laundry. Well, Persil not only smells great, it cleans better than anything I have ever used. My white laundry has never been so, well, white before. And Kraft Gel doesn't contain any chlorine bleach.

A 1.5 liter bottle will wash around 40 loads or dirty laundry. Label says 20 loads because water in Europe is much harder than in the USA.

My only complaint is that Henkel only imports 1.5 liter bottles into the US/Canada. In Europe it is also available in 3.0L, 4.5L and 6.75 liter bottles.

(More customer reviews)This product is very well constructed.It has two speeds, low and high.The low speed is pretty much quiet enough to sleep with.The Bionaire LC-0760 is a good choice to remove any small particles that are very annoying.
Although I'm not totally knowledgable on air purifiers and the technology behind it (ionization, etc.) but I'm certainly happy with this one.It removed almost all of the dust in the room it was placed.I was sick and tired of having to dust all the furniture in the room so I got an air purifier.After getting one and I dusted for the last time.There are two computers in the room and the computer cases are modded with many fans around the side so I have to watch out for dust more than normal computer users have to as dust damages your expensive hardware.However, with this air purifier, I didn't have to worry about dust getting into my system at all.It's a great investment.

(More customer reviews)I'm not sure how long this has been out but I'm surprised no one has reviewed it yet.I LOVE this sweeper for my hard wood floors in the kitchen.I have a toddler who makes a mess every time he eats and I keep this in the corner near the table.As part of my clean up routine at every meal, I just grab this out of the corner, turn it on and in 5 seconds I have all the crumbs vacuumed up off the floor.It is so lightweight and easy to turn on and off.It swivels as I turn it so it can reach around the chair and table legs.If it were not for the ease of this sweeper, I would probably have crumbs on the floor most of the time.But with this machine I can feel good about the fact that at least my floor is not filthy! I cannot say the same for the rest of the kitchen, sure wish they had something like this for it.

(More customer reviews)I bought this for my wife for her birthday.Stop laughing, she asked for one of these things.I looked at Bissell, Fuller Brush, Oreck/Hoky, Ewbank and some of the battery powered units.My wife specifically did not want to deal with remembering to charge and battery life issues.I found that everything I looked at was using older NiCad technology rather than Li Ion or Polymer Li Ion meaning they would all suffer from memory effect and degraded performance.Scratch those.So, it came down to the 125 year old technology invented by Mr. Bissell circa 1875.Bissell and Fuller have stuck with the tried and true roller with bristles like a hair brush.Hoky, now owned by Oreck has innovated with a roller that uses a series of plastic blades to replace the bristles.It's supposed to allow the unit to deal with wet stuff as well as dry stuff.Also, the rubber squeegee blades allow for easier removal of hair and other long fibers that can get embedded in bristles.

Does it work?Yeah, amazingly well.But let me be perfectly clear.This thing produces zero suction.It is not a vacuum cleaner.It works purely by mechanical action provided by.....you.Some reviews of the Bissell unit appeared to reflect the buyers belief that somehow this sort of device will replace a vacuum with suction and a powered beater bar.It won't!But for a quick cleanup of surface litter after mealtime prep and eating with 2 - 3 kids at the table, it's fantastic.And once again, it's powered by you and it relies on mechanical action.You need to give it a brisk push.More brisk = more results.You can't just slowly move it over the offending material and expect good things to happen.Grab that sucker and get aggressive with those crumbs.

So far, we've used it on hardwood floors and an persian wool carpet in the kitchen.It does well on both.I'm surprised that another reviewer found that it didn't pick up hair.I sprinkled a bunch of Cheerios on the persian rug to test it and ended up with carpet fibers, hair, and a bunch of other stuff I hadn't even seen on the carpet.So why only four stars?The price.I think [...]is a little steepconsidering the basic technology is more than 100 years old and the materials are basically plastic and a little steel.The Bissell can be bought for less than a third of this price.But, for the extra money you get an easy to clean roller that also deals with wet sloppy stuff.

(More customer reviews)I have to admit the first time I used this sweeper it was awesome! I couldn't believe the amount of dirt it picked up (we don't have pets so I don't have that issue). The 2nd time I used it there wasn't nearly the dirt in it but I thought maybe it was because it got so much up the first time. By the 2nd use I had to clean the filter out real good which is kind of a hassle but this is my first bagless sweeper so I figure it comes with having a bagless (still not sure about that). Well today I used it for the 3rd time. I finished sweeping 4 bedrooms, living room and family room and there is no dirt in the canister.....where the heck is it going you ask....it's spitting it all back out. The sweeper is absolutely filthy on the outside from all the dust it's creating. I've checked all the filters and they are all clean.This hunk of junk is going back to the store.

(More customer reviews)I have wanted a Roomba for a while.I have a perfectly good vacuum (so I thought) but it was getting on in years and was cumbersome, plus I hate vacuumingand being a pet owner I really need to do it more than I would prefer (never).So when I found the basic Roomba very on sale I was suspicious and decided to research reviews first.In short, people seemed really excited about their Roombas.Its maybe the best reviewed product I have ever come across.These people seemed a little over-enthusiastic, but the few negative reviews seemed trivial so feeling confident I went and bought my Roomba (for $90).Now I am one of those crazy fans too.I am in love with my Roomba.
When I brought it home I ran my regular vacuum first.My house looked clean.Then I ran the Roomba and checked the dust compartment.I was both horrified and fascinated at how much junk was in there.Who knew I was living in such squalor and filth!It was weirdly satisfying to dump it all out.Every time I run it I am shocked at what it picks up.I haven't had the trouble with carpet tassels that others report - but it does try to eat my bath mats.On the occasion that it does get stuck, it is really quite good at getting itself unstuck and negotiating obstacles.Dump the dust compartment every time, clean it every handful of times - this will stay easy if you do it regularly.Don't clean it over the trash; it is so easy to disassemble (and reassemble) that the smaller pieces can fall out into your trash can which means you'll have to dig for them - obviously I learned this the hard way.I talk about my Roomba like it's a new puppy and am convinced that everyone needs to own one.

The old zipper always jammed with sand/debris and eventually failed. You have to keep the velcro parts apart, of course, while emptying the bag or it closes up. I bought the all purpose bag too to compare and other than a finer mesh on this bag, they both are the same. Fast ship from Amazon as I've come to enjoy and expect.

(More customer reviews)First a note about the color-it is not really that beige like it looks in the picture, it's more of a nice off-white.

This is an okay model however it does not perform nearly as well as the next larger unit (402/403 models) both in terms of air filtering and quietness. While the 400 series is quite a bit larger, it actually takes up about the same floor space and affords you much better performance all the way around.

The 250E takes in air from the back and outputs it out the top, which means you can't place it up against a wall like you can with the 402/403 (which takes in and outputs air from the sides). the 250E also does not charge the particles (so that theybetter stick to the filter) before hitting the filter like the higher models do. I'm pretty sure the design of the 250E is not nearly as effective and this has been my observation using both units The air seems cleaner and even more fresh with the Blueair 403 that I have.Also, because the 400 series is larger, the fan does not have to move as fast, which results in noticeably quieter operation, although the 250E isn't really that loud, it is not near silent at the lowest setting like my 403 is.

The 400 series also has a much more robust (thicker) filter. And, since the 250E outputs air out the top, you cannot put things like books on top of it like you could do with larger units.

This is not a bad unit for a small room. It does include a remote control and automatic sensor features, as well as a timer. However, I found that those don't really get used that much since you mostly would want to leave the unit on all the time and then manually turn it up when needed. The fact that the room was dustier with this unit than with my Blueair 403, and also didn't seem quite as nice and fresh, signifies to me that it does not perform nearly as well and it may be worth the extra money for a 400 series-it's just more effective and quiet all the way around.

That said, the 402/403 unit is a lot larger and looks like a computer tower. If you want something that looks a bit more discreet and your room isn't huge, this 250E should suit you quite well indeed.
